The Housing & Cover Leak Test Machine is designed and manufactured as a turn-key automation machine capable of leak testing the Housing and Cover Castings at an annual production rate of 95 thousand parts.
Both the housing and covers are individually tested on a common machine base made from carbon steel. An impact style identification marker is installed into each individual process.
The leak detection method selected for this application is an ‘absolute’ pressure decay type analysis that uses a comparison (or measured value) with a certified manometer. Ionic believes that this method provides a more repeatable and cost effective output compared to a ‘differential’ style system that compares a standard work piece to a test piece.
